Captain Scott's Fishing Journey

My fishing story starts in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 7. With a cane pole in hand and a spirit full of excitement, I embarked on what would become a lifelong passion. Those early days, spent fishing with my father and brother, were filled with the joy of catching perch, catfish, and the occasional bass.

Our move to Mobile, Alabama, opened a new chapter in my fishing life, marked by the introduction to spinning reels and the discovery of richer fishing grounds. The coastal waters and their abundant life added a new dimension to my growing skills and enthusiasm.

The journey then led me to San Antonio, Texas, where I indulged in pond fishing and trips to Corpus Christi. It was here that bass fishing captivated my heart, becoming a lifelong passion. Despite another move back to Alabama, near the famed Gunterville Lake, my dedication to fishing only deepened. This period was marked by valuable lessons in using artificial baits and fly fishing, skills I owe to my father's friend, Bennet Darmer.

Texas called again in 1966, and my family's settling near Canyon Lake brought new fishing adventures. Post-high school and through the early '70s, my involvement in bass fishing clubs and tournaments grew, showcasing my talent in capturing significant catches, including two lake record bass.

My foray into guiding began at Canyon Lake Tackle under Jerry Moore, where I spent five enriching years. It was a friend of my wife who introduced me to the saltwater fishing guide out of Port O'Connor, Texas, reigniting my love for saltwater fishing. This experience not only enhanced my fishing knowledge but also led me to pursue my Captain's License, a challenging yet rewarding journey.

Today, as a licensed fishing guide, my focus is on providing safe, enriching fishing experiences. I find particular joy in teaching young anglers, sharing my knowledge, and passing on the passion for this wonderful sport.
